Destination 1:
Paradise Valley, Squamish
Today is July 2, 2019, and I just came back from a private campsite called Paradise Valley, Squamish. I will be talking about what we did yesterday on July 1, 2019, Canada Day, what the campsite looked like, and fun things we did there.
First off, I went with my Mom, Dad, Dog, and of course, myself. It was a long drive from SFU Mountain down to Squamish, but we made it there. It was really chilly down there because the wind was quite strong, but it was also super warm. It was so warm my dad and I had to stop by the gas station to pick up some Slurpee’s. By the time we got there, it was already 1pm, so we decided to eat our lunch that we also picked up before getting Slurpee’s. The sun was really coming out now, and even though we had a lot of shade, our dog was panting really hard. It was super hot, so I asked if we should set up the tent. It as a good idea because our tent could block out the heat. We set the tent up, then went to explore the campsite.
Turns out, the campsite was pretty big and quiet. It would take an hour to go around the campsite and back to our campground if we hadn’t taken a shortcut. I figured there were camgrounds that didnt have water and electricity, but that wasn’t one of us so we didnt have to worry.
The sun wasn’t as strong anymore, so we started eating snacks when we got back to the campground. By the time I finished my snacks, it was about 3:45pm already. Dad decided we should start the fire, and I helped make the fire for the first time. It took my dad a while to start the fire, like one and a half hours, because the wind was still super strong. When my dad finally had the fire going, it was around 4pm and I was getting hungry! For dinner, we had Cheddar Smokie hot dogs with salad and chips.
We took an hour enjoying this awesome dinner, then went to the office to buy some snacks. I love Grape Crush flavoured stuff, so we bought grape crush soda and Twizzlers, and also Smokey Bacon Lays chips. I decided to make s’mores because the fire was starting to go out slowly, and I ate two warm and gooey s’mores. We then went into our tent to play Poker Night because it was 7pm and getting dark, plus, the pesty mosquitoes will start to come. We played and ate stuff from the office then went to sleep. WE tried looking for the stars, but it as still pretty bright outside. It was an astonishing and adventurous day, and I look forward to come to Paradise Valley Campgrounds again.
